Whoopi and Jesse Jackson’s Actions Are Unacceptable

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •

Though he has issued a formal apology for his use of the n-word, Reverend Jesse Jackson’s actions were irresponsible, incomprehensible, and reflect poorly upon him as a supposed role model for today’s African American youth. And to compound this issue even more, Whoopi Goldberg sang praises to the n-word before a national television audience of millions of people.

The Answer To This Worlds Problem is so simple to me. The solution to the worlds problems is not simple. I know that sounds preposterous but hear my explanation.

You see them. But do you see.

You see them all the time. When you go out to eat. when your driving. The guy sleeping on the street, the guy on the freeway entrance holding the sign. the lady walking all over the town. The family living at the riverbed. We make fun of them all the time. We might pity them and give them a couple bucks for lunch. But what do we really do to help. The answer is nothing.

Lunch Break (Full Version)

Three homeless buddies enter a half empty McDonalds on Seventh Avenue in Phoenix, AZ. Two of them order from the dollar menu while the other waits. To avoid the eat-in tax the group says the order is to go, then shuffles over to the table where they start to eat. An employee notices but lets it go and continues sweeping the floors.

play is the thing: Lack of imaginary play in children

Tagged:  •    •

As an educator I notice today's children have very little imagination and do not know how to play. All of this started around the invention of video games. I don't remember when it came out but I remember the old Atari 64 game system. We used to have it but of course that's gone along with the old Beta Machines for video cassettes. LOL.

Technology. Has it really made the world better?

When I was 11 the internet had just started to spread its wings and take off. I remember the huge bulky cell phones that were similar in size to a standard cordless home phone. Computers were bulky also and DOS was popular. The internet was created by the military, which some of you may not have known.

Jumping on the Teen Pregnancy Bandwagon

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •

I know there have been quite a few recent posts about teen pregnancy, given the pregnancy pact at Gloucester High School where 17 girls have become pregnant. A couple of arguments exist as to whether anyone has the right to tell these teenagers whether or not they are ready to be mothers.
