A large majority of Americans believe that protecting the environment is an important priority. Environmental hazards have been responsible for numerous health problems, energy inefficiency has lead to economic problems, and environmental destruction continuously threatens our quality of life.

It's easy to ignore the problems, or postpone acting to solve them, or even to come up with justifications why environmental problems should not be high on our priorities. But as progressives, our job is to solve problems, not ignore them.

Oh dear...all out of petals and I’m still not satisfied. As the last one falls to the ground I begin to realize how uncertain love is. What if there was one more petal on that flower? Would my mind be any more at ease?

I live a few miles from Sakurajima, one of the world’s most active volcanoes. I have a phenomenal view of it from my apartment balcony. Scary?

Environmentalist Squirrel

Yesterday, I was walking back to my dorm, and I came across a squirrel perched on the side of a trash can. He had a nut of some sort that he was munching on.

As I moved closer, he scurried down the outside of the can. I moved farther away, and he resumed his position, perched up on the can.

You Must Drive a GMC Yukon Hybrid. Guzzling gas at the super efficient rate of 22mpg, soccer moms and overly insecure men can ride around feeling good about their protection of the environment so that their misguided children have something to destroy.

There’s a growing trend in the United States, a trend that has been popular in the UK, but is only now starting to gain awareness and popularity in America. What is it?

Green funerals!

There are a growing number of companies and cemeteries, especially in California, Texas, New York, and Florida, offering biodegradable caskets and other environmentally friendly burial options.

Reading the paper this morning, I saw a beautiful sight. It was a picture of children in a local elementary school working together to plant a tree. Apparently, 800 trees were brought in and about 300 children were expected to take part in the planting. The elementary school had been doing this for about 10 years now.
