Hey guys, I was jst asked to write (and eventually, present) a graduation speech this June, so I figured I'd start now. I'm not one of the Val/Sal for our class, but regardless I want this to be special; not only to me, but to my classmates as well. Now it's not done yet (this is my second draft). so you'll notice the word "EDIT" appears a few times.  Read More »

Hell Froze Over 2009

I know I've had yet ANOTHER stint away from the site, which makes me sad, but I promise that was the last one. I've gone through so much in the last month and after straining my brain trying to think of who to vent to and get advice from I decided to come back here. So, following is my explanation on what has happened recently, what I'm doing now, and what I have planned in the near future.  Read More »

Finding Sandy in Me

Tagged:  •    •    •

So friends, I have some trouble. I can't become my character in my prose. The piece is called Tone by YZ Chin, it's about Sandy, a deaf girl and her trials with her boyfriend. My problem is that I'm not deaf so I can't exactly know what this girl is going through. I finally managed to get the voice down pat (my coach says it's so good it's scary) but the emotion just isn't there yet.  Read More »

Lately there has been a lot of talk at our school about cutting teachers and programs, and unfortunately I've become very worried that our forensics (speech and debate) will be one to go. Charisma....or Lack Thereof

It's interesting how one sermon can change your view on the church. I'm not a particularly religious person myself, but I do have a sense of spirituality and can understand why people would be drawn to a religious life. Churches provide a place for people to seek reconfirmation of their own beliefs, friendships and some guidance. I work at a church, and honestly it is one of my favorite jobs.  Read More »

Freedom of Speech Part 1: Swears

We as Americans (sorry if you’re not in the US but maybe this will give you some insight to our culture) are promised freedom of speech untouched by the government and uncensored. Yet is that what was truly meant? Did our Forefathers want true freedom of speech or merely freedom of speech as long as society found it acceptable?  Read More »

Bush's Impromptu Speech at Ground Zero.

Tagged:  •    •

Even if you hate Bush, you can't, but love it. It's the famous speech the President gave on ground zero. Actually, it wasn't the speech, it was the speech between the speech that caught my attention. I believe it's the greatest tapped impromptu dialog between a leader and his follower, or followers, ever.  Read More »
