I stated in the last blog that I've had a really hard time accepting the fact that my best friend's cheating boyfriend gave her herpes. This isn't just any old STD, once you get herpes you've got it; you can't take a pill or go get surgery and make it go away.

What the hell??!!! That's the first thing I thought last week when my best friend and I took a little trip to the emergency room for what I thought was going to be just a little yeast infection. Nope! The doctor has blurted out, "Yeah that looks like Herpes", and my friend is laying on a hospital bed in tears, I'm sitting here thinking, now what?

I'm talking about teenage girls and STDs. A study done at the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention concluded that one in every four teenage girls has an STD. This ranges from the most common and preached about ones, such as AIDS, to others that seem to be the newest and most frequent threat, such as HPV (although it is not new I think it's talked about more now).

Education is important. Especially any education which could possibly save a life.
