The L Word: Nature Vs. Nurture

NOTICE: This is a satirical piece; however, it is INCOMPLETE. This is also the American edition, seeing as how I was uncertain as to how familiar many members of ProgressiveU are with British politics. Besides, the "Don't Crunch, Don't Tell" joke wouldn't have worked.

The Notebook 2.0

Tagged:

"The Notebook" is the ultimate chick flick, full of cliches to an extent that it'd be more appropriate as satire. Along with so many other guys, I personally cannot stand the movie, much less the book. In my opinion, it's queerer than a bag of dicks.  Read More »

Forget the SImpsons...Baywatch should be what educates our Nation's youth

Venezuela has forced U.S. cartoon "The Simpsons" off its airwaves, calling the show a potentially bad influence on children, and filled its morning slot with reruns of the beach-and-bikini show "Baywatch."  Read More »

Obama's Lack of Bowling Skillz Means he Cannot run the Country

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •

As many of you have probably heard, Democratic Presidential Candidate, Barack Obama can't bowl. It's a complete disgrace to America. After all bowling is vital to the well being of the American nation. What kind of example would Obama set for middle America? If Barack became president, the letters D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R pop into my mind. You know what those spell?  Read More »

Road to "Climate Crisis" essay

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •

After going through some of my older stuff I found this essay that I wrote in the beginning of the first semester this year for English. It was a class assignment: to write an essay analyzing the satire of the article, "Climate Crisis", from theonion.com. The article isn't really covering an actual news story. I mean. . . what are the chances of the government building a giant air conditioner for the nation?? Anyway, I wanted to share this on progressiveu.org in order to show some interesting points the article makes about global warming. Enjoy. :)

Road to “Climate Crisis”

When addressing global warming as a “Climate Crisis” issue, people generally think of environmental activists striving for their cause. However, when the government steps in, a whole new influx of criticisms and commentary are extracted from different perspectives on the multiple properties of a solution. Once again, President Bush utilizes his adamant nature on political issues as well as creating new spoofs in his speech that’s an easy target for satire. Beside these musings, the author of this article hones in on society in general and questions how far people will go to succor the convenience of society.  Read More »

Ignorance is the new black.

I know basically nothing about the stock market. Call me a stupid, apathetic teen, but I’ve never been taught anything about it. The only assignment I’ve ever had, in all twelve years of schooling (yes, I said twelve – no preschool or second grade for me), was my sixth grade math teacher setting us into groups, giving us a newspaper, and telling us to pick ten stocks.  Read More »

Primary Elections and Childrens books

I recently re-read Alice in Wonderland and may I say it is just full of wonderful political satire. I always enjoy re-reading children’s stories because the so subtitle imprint us with what are considered to be ‘accepted values’. They really create the norms we now live with.  Read More »
