Forbidden Discourses

In Ray Bradbury's famous novel, Fahrenheit 451, the citizens of a futuristic society are not allowed to speak their minds. In fact, they have a much worse problem: there is nothing on their minds to speak about. They don't even read books, because they are afraid of addressing new subjects and expanding their intellects. The most disturbing aspect of Bradbury's fictional totalitarian society is that the people, not the government, initially introduced the oppression of free thought. They live under a self-imposed creed of censorship. In a way, I see our own society starting to walk down this same road, thanks to the doctrine of political correctness.  Read More »

The "N" Word

I am currently enrolled in a psychology class at the college I attend. One of the requirements for the class is that we participate in six hours of psychological experiments that graduate students are doing. Most are fairly harmless, what facial features in dogs are people attracted to, how do you interact with others, things like that.  Read More »

The N-word should NOT be used leisurely

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •

The N-word is one of the most taboo words of the English language. The history alone is an indication of the hatred and negative connotations that surround the word. To use “nigger” in a positive manner only belittles the people whose past is haunted by the negativities of the word. Continued use of the word only stimulates racial injustice and keeps African Americans oppressed.  Read More »
