Ricardo

At the age of 5, right after our preschool graduation, my best friend Ricardo "Cardo" passed away of a brain tumor. I can't remember the first time I wrote a poem about him, but I must have been about 7 years old or so. I don't have the original copy, but I will never forget what I was thinking then.

She told me you were gone.
Our best friend,
She lied to me
and told me you were gone.  Read More »

No good deed

Tagged:

Most of us has heard it from time to time
And even though it may sit at the back of our mind
Now when it's said it becomes redundant
But it makes it no less true
No good deed goes unpunished

But what do we do?
We continue to help those who are helpless
Then cover it up in attempts to be selfless
But it still remains stained on the surface
It all will make sense it seems  Read More »

The Secret Life of Books

"The Secret Life of Books"
They have their stratagems too, though they can't move.
They know their parts.
Like invalids long reconciled
To stillness, they do their work through others.
They have turned the world
To their own account by the twisting of hearts.

What do they have to say and how do they say it?
In the library
At night, or the sun room with its one  Read More »

I'll Take You On, Just For Fun

I'll take you on, point by point. You'll fight me in the pages of your biologoy books. But I have one point, simple to make, and I do hope that you won't be fake. Answer me this. With poignant words, not a fist.
For life to evolve here on planet earth
Would it not have to have blocks
on which to build first?
So where did these blocks come?
From the sky, or the moon
No, thats just dumb!  Read More »

a dangerous girl

Tagged:

calling me pretty
saying I'm precious
but you dont know that I'm too dangerous
to take home to mother
there ain't no other
girl that can change your life
coming from a different time
I walk the line
between innocent and sexy
can't get me in the back seat with you texting
your friends of the piece you'll be hitting tonight
I don't do that with my girls
you should know that ain't right  Read More »

"Six Million Tears"

Six million tears and even yet more
Beating and murder they had to endure,
They were forced into death camps without a choice
The Nazis refused to listen to their voice.

Starved, beaten, and tricked till they found death's path
The Nazis just scorned and deepened their wrath,
Why should so many have to sadly face
The harshness of not being wanted in a "superior race"?  Read More »

"The Wish"

(Dad, if you read this....no worries. This is a fiction poem that I wrote way back in middle school. But it doesn't mean that I don't want this to come true...hehe! I thought it was innocent and cute, so I thought I would post it.)

The night had passed all too soon.
I wanted to be in his arms 'til noon,
But now the night's over; Time went too fast.  Read More »
