The One time Rule

I am thankful for my best friend. She grew up in a not so ‘white picket fence’ home. For a time, she had to survive and tolerate her mother’s abusive boyfriend who later became her mother’s husband (that is after some jail time lots of counseling and drug rehab). I know it's easy to make judgmental statements about homeless people:

Get a job.
They brought it on themselves.
Why should I contribute a quarter to someone's drug habit?

Generalizations don't make for very good arguments in other situations; why should it be any different for the homeless population?  Read More »
