Obedience to the Law is Liberty

Ok, I said to myself when making this blog that I would do one post per day, but i can't help but write about this as soon as possible. I know I'm probably caught in the anger of the moment, but this action goes to disgust me. My home state of Tennessee, I have been informed, utilizes an obscure method of "punishment" towards teenagers who have been issued a speeding ticket.

The Stories We Need to Hear

The other day, I had the pleasure of meeting our true heroes. Vets For Freedom are travelling around the nation in the National Heroes Tour. I was privileged to meet them. CMO2 Tim Parks, USMC, has served in both Afghanistan and Iraq and has received two purple hearts and the Silver Star for his valiant acts.

The Pledge of Allegiance - Choice or requirement?

For years students have said the pledge of allegiance everyday at school, very few of them choosing not to do so. At one time the Supreme Court ruled against students who did not recite the pledge, making it a requirement. Since then, the Supreme Court has changed its decision and made it a choice.

When I grew up, I was very proud to be an American. At the local airshow my heart would swell with pride as the song "I'm Proud To Be An American" played. I dreamed of flying a fighter plane off of an aircraft carrier when I grew up. I watched "Top Gun" so many times i wore out VHS copies of it without number.

A English-Born American Citizen's View on Patriotism

Being born and raised in England, and moving to American not even a year after 911, I have always been fascinated by the idea of American patriotism. While I don’t think that there is anything wrong with loving your country, it has always been a foreign concept (no pun intended) to me, how strongly American’s believe that they are the greatest country in the world.

I Don't Support the War; I Don't Support the Troops.

I really don't like how people who don't support the war are labeled as unpatriotic and not supporting the troops. Many of the people out there that don't agree with the war love their country, and love their troops. Some of them even ARE the troops. Seriously, stop bashing people that disagree with you.

I don't support the war.

I don't support the troops either.

The Leftbehind

Every day I read something the internet/paper/report on the situation in the Middle East. They are not always about the war but, as you may have guessed, a lot of reporting that comes out of there centers on this war. Every day I read about people dying or lives being destroyed for “a lost cause” as most call it.
