It's been a topic of thought for me for quite some time, although to be honest, there aren't a lot of people who are willing to have a real conversation about it. Most people just expect you to believe as they do, particularly the really religious ones, at least - and this is a completely unfair blanketed statement that I am already regretting - Christians.
Something irks me more than anything else. I cannot stand it, especially after being on this site for a year and a half, being a faculty member for a year of that. I have read all sorts of different opinions about various topics.
It is perfectly ok to embrace your religion. But many people believe they infact have all the answers. They are correct about how this world works. They know what God thinks and feels. Who is correct though? I don't know. Maybe no one is.
Abortions
Okay, I am going to Costa Rica in a few weeks so there have been a few things to figure out lately. However, one that I had not thought of was vaccinations. While Pennsylvania (my home state) requires no vaccinations, the health department strongly suggests it.
What are your personal feelings on prostitution? Are you a patron of illegal prostitution in the U.S.? Are you passionately fighting against it? Where do you draw the line of prostitution? Do you believe that it is simply selling ones body or is it giving people in the strip clubs a show?
Recently I heard a friend make a comment that was somewhat sarcastic and somewhat meant to be a joke but it made me wonder. The comment was if we yell at smokers for smoking and tell them to stop why then should we refrain from yelling at obese people and tell them to stop eating. Now this is a hard topic to cover because there are so many outside factors that this does not even consider.
