Gas Prices, A Nightmare; Offshore Drilling, A Night Terror

When my friends start complaining about the high gas prices I respond, “It’s about time!” They then look at me with confused disgust long enough for an explanation. There is a bright side to these ridiculous petrol prices. As my biology teacher, Dr. Lishak, explained freshman year, the rise in gas prices pressures people to conserve for once.

The Presidential Election

Welcome to my very first blog on Progressive.com. I would like to start it of by getting people's input for the upcoming election. I personally intend to vote for Obama because he has promised to fight against incentives given to companies for outsourcing, a personal hot button for me. He has also promised to attack the influence that special interest groups have in Washington.

the dark side of going green

A local car dealership recently began their "Going Green Sale." Every car with a green tag is marked down, Hummers, too. They did this because, like anyone with a social conscience, this business felt the need to do their part in the world-wide push for a better tomorrow. They're "Going Green," jumping on the bandwagon, joining the crowd... but for what?

Fuels of the Future pt 1 - Biodiesel

So I thought I'd put together a little series on what is currently considered "alternative fuels," that is, fuels from renewable resources that are being developed with the intention of replacing petroleum. Everyone knows about the hybrid and electric cars, but what about hydrogen, water, biodiesel, or ethanol fuels? The idea here will be to gather information about the lesser-known fuel alternatives and relay them here. The first fuel showcased in this series will be biodiesel.
