We all face barriers when interacting with people who we think are different than us. We may be less tolerant of people we perceive to be different. I was working in a restaurant in my hometown about four or five years ago when a woman who was fascinated with American Indians asked me if I knew of where she could find some “real Indians”. She wanted to see a tribe in action, and specifically wanted her picture taken with an Indian. I informed her that I was Indian. The headline on "The Post-Standard" in Syracuse, New York reads How Pot Ring Exploited Indian Land.
