So I’m taking Latin I just for kicks and we learn a lot about Roman mythology, it’s pretty sweet. So anyway the other day we read the story of Hercules. I always figured the story of Hercules was pretty straight forward:
“The dude is half God and is really strong… Spends his life killing monsters. The End.”

Importance of Mythology in a Growing Culture: Part I
When you think of mythology, you probably imagine ancient giants hurling thunderbolts from the heavens or shining heroes slaying fierce beasts or three-headed dogs, right?

If Atheists Prayed....
If atheists prayed, Philip Pullman would be an answer to their prayers. After writing a series of books with the express purpose of "killing God", there is now going to be an epic movie about that very topic. Masked behind a screen of mythology and adventure, the story centers around an English school girl who is out to save the world by killing God. Here is my question:

Why not worship Apollo?
We all know how religions and cultures borrow from one another as they grow and interact with each other. For example, the Noachian flood is heavily influenced by earlier Mesopotamian myths. Why is Christmas on the date that it is, because that was the date of a big Roman holiday and Constantine didn’t want to take that celebration away from the people. They wouldn’t have liked it if he did.

Order Vs. Chaos
Hurray for this Topic of the Week. Greek Mythology happens to be the one class that I am taking right now. Fun stuff, those wacky Greeks. I’d advise people to take a course on Greek Mythology. Well, that being said, what does one right that is progressive when you’re looking at Greek Mythology?
