Has anyone considered the possibility that a God actually may have created this universe, and this world in particular just to see what happens when you let a bunch of mini-gods breed? And that He (please excuse the capital H) either doesn't interact with us, or does so minimally just to keep us from boring Him or self-destructing?
Why is it that many religions claim that non-adherents to their faith will be punished somehow? Each faith has followers that rabidly believe theirs is the only true way to salvation, so who is right? Many religions use their promise of salvation to seek converts, not realizing or believing that others can have faith just as deep in an entirely different dogma. Holy wars, from Old Testament accounts to the Crusades to jihad, have been waged for the simple reason that the “enemies” are not on the correct path to God.
