It's the scariest thing to have been so secure in something for years and then one day it's ripped away from you.
My family's home went into foreclosure this past September. When my dad told me that he wanted to file for bankruptcy and get out of the house, I cried for days. I had to leave behind the only house I knew and move on to something else.
I received the dreaded phone call on Monday, the one I was hoping I would not get this time, but I guess it was inevitable. The temp service I have been working with informed me that Friday will be my last day. The project is over, leaving me, once again, terrified wondering if I am going to be able to keep a roof over my head and food in my belly.
We have all become victims of inflation in recent days. Prices are skyrocketing, and people are only losing jobs. The government has made their attempt to fix things, and we will see how that goes (not sure if I think it's viable).
Is spending the issue? Or the constant demands of the failing economy?
My future brother-in-law is a person I respect and like. A good dad to his kids and a pretty cool guy when we're all just sitting around shooting the breeze, but there are times when I could smack him.
So here is my situation:
-Mother is disabled, receives small monthly checks
-Father laid off at Thanksgiving, currently unemployed
-Me working part time and going to school part time
-Younger sister full time student
-Parents filed bankruptcy due to medical bills
-House ready to be foreclosed
-Car ready to be repossessed
-No heat during winter
*salary of a funeral home manager.----$60,000 in 2004 to $75,737 in 2006.

* Intern salaries increased by 7.86 percent to $26,046. (2004 to 2006)
I grew up living in an upper-middle class neighborhood. Sure we went through rough times, like when I lived with my mom, but who doesn't. In fact I still live in an upper-middle class neighborhood. I'm going to a private school next year with quite the price tag, I have all the name brand clothes and purses and shoes I could ask for, and my family goes out to eat quite often.
