I was sitting in a class the other day, and my professor started talking about Karl Marx and commodities. A Society Owned by Commodities
The Internal Struggle of a Fashionista
What is it about material things that make us so greedy? Why do I spend my extra money on clothes and handbags when people are starving around the world? Does this make me selfish, or am I just enjoying the opportunities and luxuries I've created for myself? (Your input is quite welcome and appreciated)
I want to hear you say I'm better than you.
It’s all about us- the few, the proud, the American. Our values are different- family is no longer the centerpiece of life. We care about ourselves, and our image. Image is everything. Dress to impress. Image sells. Look your best. Work so hard that you don’t rest, then you can keep up with the best. Just tell me how great I am. Do it.

What Is Beautiful?
Today in the dentists' office I heard Christina Aguilera's song "Beautiful." I let my mind wander about my mental happy place, far away from the burring of the drill, the stinging tang of smoke drifting from my mouth, the white-hot "CRACK" as my tooth parted company from my gums. Lectures that never seem to end and dental visits have taught me a mental happy place is a very good thing.

This holiday began as a day simply to commemorate the death of St. Valentine. Saint Valentine was a priest who performed marriages between young lovers in secret.

Really, We all turn to one another and ask, "what are you doing for winter break/christmas?"
And my classmate says, "absolutely nothing."
Confused, I asked, "Nothing? No gifts, no parties?"
Buy a Bracelet, Save a Life?
October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness month, has just passed. In the spirit of "giving back", many stores are making new merchandise to lure buyers into purchasing these products with the guarantee that the company will give a percentage to breast cancer research.
