Because I haven't heard a good one yet. Usually, I just hear the same old arguments like, "Marriage is between a man and a woman!" I am apt to respond, "Says who?" Almost invariably, the answer I get is: "God!"

Here's the thing - I'm not American. I was born in America. I have American citizenship. I'm white and I have very little accent. But despite my appearance, I am definitely not American. I moved to Israel when I was three and spent almost my entire life there. I may seem American, but as far as American society and culture, I'm occasionally clueless.

So, we have heard it said, time and time again, that religion is an evil thing. One person even went to the point of saying religion has done humanity no good. So, I come here to explain what exactly religion has done in the past to benefit both society and individuals in that society.

At a Purim-themed burlesque show last night, I felt a definite sense that something progressive was unfolding around me. People of many ethnicities, faiths, and orientations were gathered at the gay bar to celebrate a classic tale of speaking truth to power. The energy at the bar was suffused with the spirit of something, but was it progress?

Recently my friend, who happens to be Jewish, was in an arguement with an black-american girl. It was an interesting discussion to say the least until she made the fatal mistake of comparing the plight of slaves in America to the holocaust of the Jews.

Judaism is an ancient religion that traces its roots back to Abram who is considered to be the father of many nations. Abram formed a covenant with God and thus began the foundation of the Jewish faith. The most important factors of this religion include the concept of God, the keeping of the Covenant, the establishment of the Law, and the element of Faith.
