McCain, who?

Tagged:  •    •    •

I'm realizing more and more that I don't know enough of the scoop of John McCain. Most of the information I get seems to be fleeting, disconnected and incomplete.

As our life expectancies grow longer, the American population of senior citizens also grows. Today, there are more than 36 million Americans over the age of 65. This is 12% of the population. By the year 2050, the number of senior citizens is expected to jump to 21% of the population, ourselves among them.

Even the Media can be Progressive

With the season premiere of Lost came a message:

Stay tuned after Lost for the series premiere of Eli Stone. If you don't, you'll miss out on the custom-made to confuse you about Lost even more commercial(s).

I took the bait. In doing so, I found myself hooked on ABC's new television drama Eli Stone.

All This Political Propoganda

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •

As the presidential campaign for 2008 continues on, I can't help but take notice to how people stand on different issues. I can see now that major issues concerning Iraq, the economy, and healthcare are all headlining these campaigns -- and it begs the question: "What do we really want as the American people?"

The answer is simple, right?

Morning stream-of-conscious: Healthcare and Politiking.

A recent experience and an article, "Politics and Work Can be a Volatile Mixture", have me thinking this morning how dualistic American political dialogue is in 2008. Blogs and forums are continuous and yet real, nitty-gritty porch conversations and work conversations (about the issues) are hard to come by. I hope I'm not overgeneralizing, but here's the word.

The Parking Jerk

I recently got my parking pass so I could drive myself to school. I get to school early, so I get the closest spot to the door. I don't NEED that spot. But I like it. So I park there. I guess there was some unwritten code that the spot just so happened to BELONG to this kid, Keith. Keith is the popular kid that even the popular kids despise.

And so, it begins...

Well, this is my first blog entry at progressive-U. My first blog entry ever, really, but I've decided it's finally time to give it a shot. My name is Kathryn, here known as Katwiz. Katwiz is a mix of Kat + wiz(ard) and also twiz is short for twizzlers, my favorite candy! So obviously I put way, way too much thought into the name. Oh well!

Have you ever wondered what life would be like without all the problems in our world? Just think about it. No racism. No cursing. No gossiping. No fights. No war. No violence. No poverty. No murder. No rape. Perfection. Ahhhhh, wouldn’t life be grand?
