Hemp.
The Declaration of Independence was drafted on it.
The Constitution was written on it.
The first American flag was made out of it.
Now it's illegal.
This year, I'll be applying to graduate schools with the hopes of studying how hemp and marijuana went from being a staple of the American economy to a demonized and largely misunderstood (and grossly underused) cash crop.
