Women and Men.

In the past year or so, hate crime laws have become a big issue, largely because of the question over whether or not to include sexual orientation as a motivation for hate crime. I think it should. That is, if we are going to have hate crime laws dealing with race, religion, ethnicity and such, I think that sexual orientation should be included.

And this applies to sexual harassment, rape, domestic violence and other illegal activities in which females are primarily the victims.
Speaking from a certain level of experience...
We are revictimized by the process of reporting the issues because

The article Boy’s Killing, Labeled a Hate Crime, Stuns a Town, tells of the events that took place in California on February 12. A young boy by the name of Lawrence King was shot in the computer lab of his school; a place that most kids feel is a safe haven, one where nothing bad could ever happen to you.

So here we are in 2008 a big year for the presidential elections. A woman, an African American and POW. Sounds like the beginning of a joke. I personally am excited about this historical moment. As rhetoric ramps up for the national election, the pundits are laying the groundwork for important debate. One of the biggest appears to be immigration. What to do with them all.

Because I'm Black it seems the people expect me to act a certin way when i do good things like helping old people cross the street they seem to think it alright for them to say that kind for a black person are they usually think I'm trying to rob them like one person did when they ran screaming at me.

In response to an outburst (two, that I’m aware of) hanging nooses in front of the houses of blacks, the NY State Senate has jumped into action and passed one of the most outrageous pieces of legislation imaginable. One can only hope that by the time the State Committee gets to it, the incidents will have been forgotten, and the bill can be quietly put to death.
