Gun Control: Who do YOU want to exterminate?

This is an article about gun control I wrote for the school newspaper when I was a senior in high school. Just your typical conservative/libertarian argument against gun control. It's not necessarily 100% what I believe to this day, but I have love for all of my children.

With all the controversy that surrounded the appointment of John Bolton (haha I accidentally wrote Michael Bolton at first) as the US ambassador to the UN, the man had a point. The UN is messed up.

We are in a Race to Save Lives: DARFUR

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •

Whenever I have a general conversation about politics, government, or morals, I usually direct the subject towards the issue of the genocide in Darfur. Many are aware of the crisis, but I’m not too surprised when someone responds by saying, "What’s Darfur?" I’m not offended by one’s lack of knowledge on the situation, because it is entirely underreported in the news.

Imagine waking up in the middle of the night to an arm wrapping around you. Instantly, you are being dragged from your home by a man that you do not know. As you are leaving your hut, he shoots your mother and father, and several other men hack your baby sister to death.

Darfur.

You can almost smell the death from here—the stench of sweat and blood hanging thickly in the air. Awareness is not the problem, nor is apathy. Inaction is in fact the culprit.

"...Tomorrow We Will Be Killed With Our Familes"

"We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow, We Will be Killed With Our Families", a book written by Philip Gourevitch answered a lot of questions for me about the genocide in Rwanda. Yes, I've seen the movie, but it still didnt make sense to me. If explained in the movie Hotel Rwanda why the Tutsis were being eliminated by the Hutus, i must've missed it.
