I make just little over minimum wage right now, and love my job, however I Don’t have insurance, I don’t always have enough money for the things I need such as food. I make my pennies stretch. So one day I decided to check out getting state assistance just temporarily till I got my finances in order. Maybe a month or two.
Financial Aid
When you know Race is really the issue!!
You Can't Take My Scholarship From Me!
After weeks of not knowing what school to go to and constantly debating one school against the other, I finally chose a college based on the financial aid I was receiving. I didn't think I would be attending this school since the tuition is $43,000 a year. FAFSA had advised me to take out $30,000 in loans. When it seemed like I wouldn't be going, I find the perfect scholarship for me.
Nature of Education
In today’s world, we live in a sea of information that is just waiting for our gain. Some of us acquire this information from books, or other literary sources, but most of us obtain this from years of experience, and most importantly from an education. Unfortunately, not everyone in this world is lucky or eligible enough to obtain this knowledge.

Financial Aid
A few days ago I got a letter in the mail from the university I attend, recapping the financial aid package I received for the 2007-2008 school year. Today, I received another financial aid letter outlining the funds I'll be receiving for the 2008-2009 school year. My heart was broken when I realized they revoked a bunch of grants I was awarded last year.

When Is FAFSA Really Fair?
So here is my situation:
-Mother is disabled, receives small monthly checks
-Father laid off at Thanksgiving, currently unemployed
-Me working part time and going to school part time
-Younger sister full time student
-Parents filed bankruptcy due to medical bills
-House ready to be foreclosed
-Car ready to be repossessed
-No heat during winter

Short End of the Scholarship Shaft
Being A Senior Sucks...
We all just want to have fun, go out, get to know our friends a little bit more before parting for college.

Harvard wants YOU! Who, me?!! Yeah, and for free! :)
Don't write off those Ivy League schools as an option for you just yet...you might be waving away the best opportunity of your life! You say there's no way you'd get in? No way to pay for it? Well think again!!

What about the middle class?
I come from a middle class family. We are not poor, and by no means wealthy. Recently, I have been offered two opportunities to travel for educational purposes. One, to Costa Rica to take advanced Spanish classes, and the other, to San Fransisco to the National Youth Leadership Forum On Medicine. The cost for both of these is over 2,000 dollars.
