Why do you have to be 21 to drink? We are considered adults at 18. We can serve our country at 18. We can smoke at 18. We can buy a house or car when we are 18. And we can have kids when we want. Everything we do can be done at 18 or younger expect for drinking. Most everyone drinks before they are 21. Why do we have to wait until we are 21 the legally drink? Does this make since to any one?
Lately I've been hearing a lot from people about wanting to lower the drinking age to 18. I can understand the appeal of drinking to young people, but I don't think that it would be a responsible decision by the government to lower the drinking age to 18.
What does it really mean to be 18 years old? Everyone always makes such a big deal about it because supposedly it's when you finally become a full adult. Yes you can vote, legally have sex, and are no longer under obligation to follow parental rules but who came up with the bright idea of making that age 18?
