More Unheard Important News: the Feds Controlling Every-- EVERY-- Aspect of your Health Care!

Now, how many people have heard about Obama's latest blunder? Apparently, not too many, so I'm going to post about this myself. This is friggen' HUGE. That much can be good in limited amounts because it helps to prevent repeated tests or unnecessary treatment.

However, it goes much further than that: the Feds will be watching what your doctors are doing to make sure they meet certain standards. And what are these standards based on? COST EFFECTIVENESS. They don't care about you. They only want your health care to be cost effective. This means that if you have an atypical condition which requires experimental treatment, your fate will be decided by people who have never, ever met you and only know what's on the papers they're given about you. Besides the federal standards for doctors, doctors will be penalized if they differ from those standards at all, effectively creating a uniformity among doctors.  Read More »

Now that the subject has been opened I have to continue. I have made several "harsh" statements on other people's blogs about my disdain of medicine and doctors in general. I am a nurse. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty doctors I know and love, and most of them are good people. However, most of them are trying to get a paycheck.  Read More »

A Healthy Dose of Ethics: Quantity vs. Quality

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •

This is a rewrite, because I realized that my last attempt at this topic did not come off exactly the way I wanted it to. That was my own fault, and after thinking about it for the last couple days, I decided to just rework the entire entry to see if I could come out better. I apologize in advance to those who commented on my original entry.  Read More »

A Healthy Dose of Ethics: Gimme Some Sugar

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •

I've decided, in an effort to stretch my ability to answer ethical questions, to take a look at a few ethical dilemmas. Since I'll most certainly face a number of ethical questions in my future profession (as a physician), I figure this is as good of a time as any to delve into these questions.  Read More »

Doctors: We're smarter, wiser, and better than you, now shut up!

I've been pretty ill for the past... oh... six months or so. By "pretty ill" I mean I am usually physically unable to eat. I have no appetite whatsoever and randomly get nauseas or start puking my guts up even when I haven't eaten anything in the past couple days.  Read More »
