My father was never in the picture as far as raising me. He was a check and a frozen image in a picture that my mother showed me occasionally. He wasn't a drunk or abusive, he was just a broken, sad man afraid to take a chance when my mother got pregnant unexpectedly.
Getting into the dating scene again is not fun. At least it doesn't look like fun. This is not me I'm talking about. I have a front row seat with popcorn! Although I poke fun at this it isn't a very funny matter. This year was a year of change and "the year of women."
As a child growing up with only one parent there for me, I can say that it isn't easy, but it proves to be a good thing.
Have you listened to Rodney Atkins' "Cleaning This Gun"? In it he goes to his girlfriends house and her dad stylishly threatens him with a gun. I was involved in a similar scenario but unlike Rodney promised, "Now it's all for show Ain’t nobody gonna get hurt It’s just a daddy thing", somebody actually got hurt... and it was me.
