President Bush has used his executive privilege to refuse lawmakers' demands for White House documents relating to the Congressional investigation of recent firings of federal prosecutors. Granted, it's not illegal for him to use this executive privilege, but it's still a veritable slap in the face to Congress' attempts to seek the truth about those suspicious firings. The subpoenas ask for documents and for former political director Sara Taylor and former presidential counsel Harriet Miers to testify in front of Congress-- neither of which the White House is willing to authorize.  Read More »

Where pot's legal and plastic bags aren't

Conan said it right when he called the Bay Area a unique place. 

And the title's right: in San Francisco, plastic bags are illegal, but medical marijuana isn't. Now, it appears Oakland is much the same.

Are the children alright

I don't get what is going on with the Florida Department of Children and Family's because it seems like they aren't doing the quality job you would hope they were doing. Candace Clark, a woman whose children were in foster care, kidnapped her child (Courtney Clark) from the foster home and had her for four months before the police were notified.  Read More »
