How would you feel if someone told you, you couldnt marry the person of your dreams???

courts
Who's decision is it?
Ah, the Sweet Smell of Bigotry in the Courts....
In English class, we were discussing possible discrimination in the courts on the basis of race, because we read To Kill a Mockingbird. I don't think that race counts against people as much as it used to. People are discriminated against in court on the basis of money, influence, and gender.

Holy Judicial Inequity, Batman!
I just read an interesting article from a few-months-old Newsweek. Here's a summary of it:
Federal Courts
“The primary function of the federal courts is to apply and enforce all federal laws created by Congress. These laws include a large amount of federal criminal laws that range from violations of environmental laws to treason and piracy;” (Adler 2006) they also “handle such cases dealing bankruptcy, maritime cases, and patent and copyright violations” (World Book, 1993).
Charges Dropped Against Child Rapist...And For What???
A child rapist in Maryland had all charges against him dropped because the court could not find an interpreter to speak his native language of Vai, which is a West African language spoken by about 100,000 people world wide. The link to one of the news stories is below.
