Even though things are staged, I understand that small claims court is somewhere I never wish to enter. However, for some this is unavoidable. Small claims court is often full of the pulling of hair and gnashing of teeth. The judges always look so high and mighty in their polyester robes, chiding defendants that they brought this upon themselves.

Last fall in Jena, Louisiana two Black high school students sat under what the students called the "white tree". The very next day nooses were hung from the tree. The superintendant refered the noose hanging as a "prank" and dismissed it. That is when Black student started protesting by sitting under this "white tree".

This is the basis to our legal system, yet American citizens seem to be the worst at upholding this principle. We have the luck of having freedoms that allow us an opinion, but we have gotten too opinionated when it comes to our opinions of a person on trial.
