Anyone who takes an economics course quickly discovers the folly of command market systems. In their attempt to equilibrate supply and demand, they always fall victim to the natural tendency of over- or underspeculation. Necessarily, these political economies fall (as in the case of the U.S.S.R.) or reinvent themselves (as in the case of modern China).
