Hey, here's my number!

I was sitting in a Kagoshima, Japan, Starbucks yesterday enjoying my tall green tea frappuccino. Suddenly, a Japanese woman at the table next to me started talking to me in English (her English was quite good, by the way). This is not an unusual occurrence, as I’m often approached by Japanese people wanting to practice their English on a foreigner.

The Silent Treatment

This topic is a little old but I see this pattern reoccurring. There was a big fuss recently when Jimmy Carter decided to meet with leaders of Hamas. The fuss was because leaders of Israel and other nations refuse to recognize Hamas because they are considered a terrorist organization and these leaders will not recognize their political power nor validity.

Learning How to Speak...All Over Again

Every now and then, I get one of those teachers who goes off on a rant about how hard it is to make it in the real world. Hey, isn't this why I went to college in the first place? Isn't college supposed to ease the way and mmake my chances better at getting the dream job? Apparently not.

The Pros And Cons of a Universal Language. Not Klingon you idiot! Esperanto!

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •

The thought of a world language that could be spoken and understood in any country is quite a formidable subject of discussion. There are a few developed alternative languages but so few people speak them that it really isn’t worth mentioning them. Esperanto is the most widely used alternative language in the world although the majority speak it only as a hobby.

iPods Paving The Way To An Antisocial Society

If you were to ask a classroom full of students how many of them own iPods more than half of them would raise their hand. iPods are popular amongst the young people. I see a lot of people sporting them around no matter where I am: the store, campus, work. Have you ever seen someone you know around town listening to their iPod?

Me, Myself, and I, the loss of the art of conversation

I am aware of the obvious irony in using a blog to discuss the sorry state of one on one human interaction, but drastic times call for drastic measures.

I am so confused!!!! Seriously ...

So, the thing is ... I have this friend okay? I just recently met him at school like a few months ago. he's about 5 years older than me. And although we just met and haven't known each other for too long ... I must say he's grown to become one of my best guy friends.
