Hey all you security “Big Brother is Watching” buffs (or not), here’s a new one for ya! Yep, Big Brother is still watching… but now he’s just looking a bit closer.
A new kind of camera was recently developed for security purposes that can see through clothing. It’s called Thru Vision and its creators hope it can be used in areas such as airports, train stations, etc.
The other morning I was taking the dogs for a walk around the neighborhood wearing jeans, sneakers, a puffy winter coat and a beanie and some guy whistled at me. There have also been many other times in my life when I was not wearing anything remotely provacative and I'd gotten looks and/or whistles and/or other gestures from men.
If you haven't heard, new legislation is being initiated across the country that could mean that if your jeans hang low in public, you'll be paying for it.
"Don't judge a book by its cover." A saying we've all heard; a saying many of us probably haven't given a second thought to. Taken literally, this saying instructs us to take a look on the inside (of a book) before we decide it's worth or content. But this advice can also be applied in other aspects of our lives, including our judgments of people.
You can look at someone and usually tell what clique they're in by their clothes. Isn't that silly?
Silly how you can judge someone's friends by their clothes, but not their personality. You would think it should work that way, shouldn't it? But it doesn't.
I believe in being yourself. I believe that you should not be afraid of who you are and you should not care what others think of you. Although it took me a couple years to realize this, I am glad that I can be proud of who I am.
Everytime I flip through the pages of Vogue or Elle I see skinny models the likes of Daria Werbowy, Gemma Ward, Jessica Stam, and Lily Cole. I look at them and think "Yeah, they are thin, but really they are too thin". I look at haute couture runway photographs after going "Ugh, those clothes are weird," I think for some shows to myself "Wow, she is unnaturally thin/all skin and bone". Then there are other shows though were the girls are thin but they look like they are suppose to be that size. The girls tend to be a little odd looking, but I relate to that.
