1 in 100 Americans... in Jail?

According to a new report by the Pew Center on the States, 1 in every 100 Americans are currently incarcerated. That's a record-breaking total of 2,319,258 in jail at the beginning of 2008.

An Eye for an Eye

An issue that is in constant debate is the death penalty, also known as capital punishment. As of right now, there are 36 states with the death penalty including the U.S. Government and Military. These states have certain statutes by which they can use the death penalty. For instance, Alabama may use capital punishment only for intentional murder with 18 aggravating factors.

Constitutionality of Lethal Injection Under Review by SCOTUS

Ralph Baze and Thomas Clyde Bowling, Jr. sued the state of Kentucky in 2004 claiming that lethal injection is a cruel and unusual punishment. A state judge ruled that lethal injection was acceptable and the Kentucky Supreme Court affirmed the decision.

God made it very clear to the Hebrews that he really meant business and that what he said goes. Many consequences of sin result in death. Murder being one of them. Leviticus 24:17 Whoever kills any man shall surely be put to death. Lets see what other crimes resulted in death. Leviticus 24:16 states: And whoever blasphenmes the name of the Lord shall be put to death.

Ineffective Punishment, it needs to change

        Capital punishment has been around for centuries.  In the past, there were people hammered to crosses, alleged witches burned on a steak, public hangings, and decapitations by the guillotine.  Over the centuries public view and governmental actions have shifted to slightly more humane techniques or complete
