The kind folks at The Biography Channel recently provided us with an advanced copy of the Barack Obama Biography that went on sell at Wal-Mart today. I had a chance over the weekend to sit down and review the biography in full and I have to confess that I'm glad I did.
So what is the deal with us third culture kids? Do you even know what it means to be a third culture child? My life, my childhood, has been filled with obstacles and hardships that many Americans just don't understand or even want to understand. Why is it that many people's eyes glaze over when I begin to tell of life outside the United States?
I'm the girl who knows the stuff that she shouldn't know. I know all the gossip, I know all the secrets. And I keep most of it to myself. Mind you, not all; I have a big mouth. And it's all because I can be invisible.
Ever since I was little, I have always loved traveling. When I was born, my parents were traveling all around the United States in a green "hippie" van while raising support to go to Hong Kong as missionaries. Therefore, my travels began in my car seat and I guess you could say that since then, I have infected a lifelong illness called the "traveling bug".
