If atheists prayed, Philip Pullman would be an answer to their prayers. After writing a series of books with the express purpose of "killing God", there is now going to be an epic movie about that very topic. Masked behind a screen of mythology and adventure, the story centers around an English school girl who is out to save the world by killing God. Here is my question:

If "God can do anything..."
So I am curious here.
If god can do anything, then why did jesus have to be sent to suffer and die on the cross in order for Christians to be saved from hell and absolved of all of their sins?
If god can do anything, then why does he create a world with deadly storms, famine, war, etc. if he can prevent it all?
Is this just a big game? Why make humans and then let them suffer?

What Do You Think Happens when you die?
Over the past two years I have had a fairly large change in religious beliefs and in my outlook on the world in general. In my opinion, I went from being optomistic, religious, narrow-minded, and opinionated to being more open-minded, disappointed in our world, and more accepting of others in general.

How can you pick ONE RELIGION and ASSUME you are right?
There is no reason for me to believe that there is a god.
