"Sophisticated" Arguments for God's Existence

Tagged:  •    •    •    •

There has been a spate of books come out recently by atheists criticizing the belief in God. These books portray the belief in God as being inherently irrational. This a rather strong statement, especially considering that 85%+ of the people in this country profess a belief in God.

Religion .... Even the Moderates can be Wackaloons

I am no fan of religion. I wish there were an outbreak of rationality and it would die. Die not because anybody restricted anybody's right to practice it. But die, because of the realization that it is not needed.

Even if there weren't so many terribly misbehaving children who haven't been taught to shut up for one hour, I wouldn't have been able to hear the preacher's low-volume microphone anyway. He was talking, I could tell that much. But what he was saying was anyone's guess. If there had been a clock on the wall, I could have heard it ticking better than anything that was supposed to be relevant.

It is true that all individuals are capable of morality/ethics. However, atheism as a whole does not possess a moral quality. Think about it. Atheism has no code, whatsoever, other than the denunciation of God. After individuals unify under that one rule, the rest of their code of conduct is up to them to decide.

Christianity from the Perspective of a Self-Harmer

I grew up in a radical church that my dad and my pastor liked to proudly describe as "independent, fundamental, Bible-believing Baptist." I spent my entire youth desperately trying to please a jealous, holy god.

Another One of Those Posts Where the Atheist Girl Rants

If there is one thing that I care so strongly for I would die, it would definitely be my rights as an atheist. And saying the above is not a flimsy statement for me, as I believe this life to be the only one that I have; after my death, my body will disintegrate.
