Achieving Understanding Through Art

Many times throughout my life, I have regretted not spending more time with family, with friends. This feeling of loss and disappointment in myself was especially severe after the death of my grandfather in September 2006. I felt like since they were no longer living on earth, I could no longer get to know them better. However, I soon found out that I was wrong.

My, what an expensive hobby

In elementary school, I loved Art. I mean, I really, really loved Art. I tried my hardest each time I had class, and my work even got chosen to be displayed in the Capitol Art Exhibit in Atlanta. After I finished my art classes in highschool, I fell out of the habit, and out of the hobby I used to spend so much time pursuing.

Xican@ ART

For many years I have been interested in contacting Favianna Rodriguez, Xicana Artist and Activist. I am not sure why I never got around to send her an email or comment on her web page. I have been a silent admirer of her art work.

As an artist, I often find myself wondering what makes art art. At what point is something purely materials, and at what point is it art?

Tattoo's in today's society

A tattoo is a form of artistic expression. They can have very personal meanings and express beautiful art work. Some people still look at tattoos as negative in today's society. why? i guess because many people correlate tattoos to drugs, alcohol, and gangs, as the typical stereotype. But what about the beautiful artwork displayed on all walks of life, including non gang members or drug users?

Letters flow freely, draping themselves across a page with minimal concern to visual aesthetics or their melody when spoken. Punctuation and capitalization are optional. An abundant sense of self importance is not.
