It's day four of buying nothing new, and already I have run into trouble. There are just so many things I buy without thinking about it! Most of these have to do with personal hygiene, which might be considered a necessity along the lines of food, but I'm torn. The one that really trips me up is razors. One cannot buy used razors.

The BBC news (www.bbcnews.com) has been spending a lot of time talking about the American economy. And no wonder -- it's not exactly a secret that we're facing some serious economy issues. Recent articles include the following: "US consumers cut spending plans," "House prices suffer 11% drop," "Big fall in retail sales," and even, "The end of the American dream?"

Lately there have been quite a few blurbs in the news about whether or not the American economy is headed toward a recession. Many have been in denial of this fact, but I recently read an article that accepted this recession and suggested ways that consumers could safeguard against it. The main one being save your money, just in case you get laid off. However, this is awfully dumb.
