The Rainbow Families annual conference was this weekend. It is a convocation of resources for GLBT families all over the Upper Midwest. There are workshops about legal protection of partners and children, artificial insemination, transgender parenting issues, saving for college, and adoption, just to name a few. I've gone to the prospective parent workshops before, so this year, I decided to do the educator track. What I learned about the school conditions of GLBT youth was upsetting. It hasn't gotten much better in the ridiculously huge number of years since I graduated from high school.  Read More »

Lately I have been struggling with what particular religion I would like to follow when I finally turn 18 and move out on my own. I dont really like the church my mother goes to, and so far every church I have been to, hasnt been "the right one". One thing I noticed, is that so many of the ones I have visited (and believe me I've tried more then just a couple) seem to focus on a belief that their church is right...and that you should follow that particular religion to be accepted into God's heart and into heaven. I sat thinking about this, how can only one religion be right? Who are we to decide how God call's his children to him.  Read More »
