March 15, 1989 Efren Paredes, Jr. was arrested at the age of 15 for a crime he did not commit. Since that day he has been incarcerated. April 4, 2008 Efren turned 35-years-old. As a youth Efren was sentenced to three life sentences. His sentencing judge imposed the maximum allowable punishment against him.
Facebook has proven to be an effective tool that people can use for networking and organizing. In recent months there have been large protests organized around the world through the use of Facebook and it's Groups feature.
For many years I have been interested in contacting Favianna Rodriguez, Xicana Artist and Activist. I am not sure why I never got around to send her an email or comment on her web page. I have been a silent admirer of her art work.
I am a Xikana living in Michigan for the past 16 years. I am an Alumni of Michigan State University, my degree is in Communications. I am going back to obtain my Masters in Social Work. I currently work for a non-profit organization. I enjoy my job with the agency, however, I feel like I am at a point in my life in which I can learn some managerial skills.
