Numerous people have posted blog entries of Wal-Mart being the paragon of evil. I'd like to say that Wal-Mart will go down in history as one of the most innovative company for several reasons.
1. Wal-Mart helps the US economy
a.According to a McKinsey & Co study published in December of 2003, 12% of the economy's productivity gains could be traced to Wal-Mart alone. Furthermore, Wal-Mart is partly responsible for the low rate of US inflation It is quite obvious that without Wal-Mart, the US economy would not be fairing as well. You might think 12% is not a lot, but think about it for a second.

Why we must stay in Iraq
The democrats in Congress have been trying to withdraw US troops in Iraq for quite some time. What the democrats don't realize is that withdrawing our troops in Iraq would bring even more chaos to Iraq. The democrats have wanted to pull out our troops because the US populace wants to see an end to the war. To much dismay, the democrats have not spent enough time studying the war. I see myself as a liberal and I am ashamed by the actions of liberal senators and congressmen. The reason why the surge in Iraq has not been working is because the US does not spend enough time in cities once they are stable. As Ahmed S. Read More »
US and Chinese economic relations SUCK
In recent weeks, the US and China have established trade restrictions on meat and seafood in fear of the food being poisoned or contaminated. The US initially started the trade restriction when the FDA thought that Chinese seafood was contaminated with chemicals. These trade disputes have been part of a build up of US protectionism. With China's rise in economic power and military power- the Bush administration has been a bit paranoid. China recently shot down a satellite and has been expanding its navy. Furthermore, the Chinese government has not revalued the yuan. This basically means that China has kept the yuan at a low price so its exports continue to boom. Read More »
Is liberal democracy the final political system for the world today?
I'm currently reading Francis Fukuyama's novel "The end of History and the Last Man." In his tome, Fukuyama ponders whether or not liberal democracy and free-market capitalism bring a close to historical progression. Fukuyama perceives that if liberal democracy and free-market capitalism are truly the final political and economic forms for the international community, then man has entered his final stage: no longer desiring. The other competing political system in the world today, market-oriented authoritarianism, helps developing nations industrialize much quicker than liberal democracy because the leader of an authoritarian regime can easily prevent strikes and neglect the working class. The dismal state of Pakistani politics
President Pervez Musharraf's recent suspension of the Chief justice of the Supreme Court clearly shows how politically unstable Pakistan is right now. President Musharraf suspended the chief justice simply because he was investigating incidences where people were taken hostage by intelligence officers. Read More »
Somalia: A failed state?
Sociologists and political analysts predicted that Somalia would never encounter a civil war like numerous African states because it only has one ethnic group. To much dismay, these analysts were proven wrong with the toppling of Siad Barre's dictatorial regime. Eleven transitional governments have tried to bring stability to the lawless country after Barre's nefarious regime. Read More »

Are offshoring and outsourcing good for America?
I was wondering what people on Progressive U think about outsourcing and offshoring. I personally believe offshoring and outsourcing are essential because they keep current trends in globalization healthy. If the US becomes more of a protectionist state, the international economy could be affected. Read More »
