On friday, I came in to my house with my weeks' laundry from school and sat down to give my dogs a kiss like I always do.
"Well, I don't know how to tell you this....." I figured someone had died. "Dad's not living here anymore."

The future of Social Security=Amnesty!

In my American Government class yesterday we discussed the future (or lack thereof) of social security. It worries me that, because of America's decreasing birthrate and extended life expectancy, the money that is there for my grandparents may not be there for me.

I recently watched an episode of the PBS series "frontline". The episode was "Endgame", describing the timeline of the war in Iraq, and the supposed direction in which it is going. This is the paper I wrote summarizing the film along with my opinions on the war.

When is it appropriate to ask a parent to control their child?

Sometimes a badly behaved child is tolerable or understandable in public, when does it cross the line? Is it ever appropriate to ask the parent to take care of their child? I think the answer is yes.
One day I was reading a book a my local bookstore, and a man was doing his book shopping with a toddler girl following him. I would be fine with it if the girl weren't screaming every few seconds. He did absolutely nothing. I decided to be polite and not say anything, but that is absolutely inappropriate.
