BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- A decade after the Christmastime slaying of JonBenet Ramsey, two aspects of the case endure: the public's fascination with the murder of the 6-year-old beauty contestant, and a sense for some that the notorious crime may never be solved.  Read More »

Remembering Jon Benet Ramsey

As a lot of us know, Jon Benet was murdered at Christmas time in her home in Boulder,Colorado when she was six  years old. To this date, her killer has not been found. As a parent, I can not imagine the grief her dad feels and her mom felt. Her mom died of cancer last year. I am not saying her parents are guilty or innocent. I was not there, so I can not say. Only the good Lord and possibly the Ramseys and their son know.  Read More »

Keeping Christ in Christmas

Two days before Christmas, I think it would be a fitting time to post about how to keep Christ in Christmas. There has been a lot of debate about that over the years and the debate seems to get a lot deeper every year. My family and I believe that Jesus is the Reason for the Season and that we need to keep Jesus in Christmas. As kids though, my daughters still do get wrapped up in the hype of presents and Santa Claus. Here are some ways to keep Christ in Christmas:  Read More »

Police Pursuits

You see them all the time on the news. Swarms of police cars chasing a suspect down a highway. Should they really happen? My question is should the media really be there? What if the intention of the person or people being chased is only to get media attention? Then they are getting exactly what they want. The media and thousands of viewers watching them. They are not concerned about the safety of the people around them. They are just concerned about getting themselves away from the police for whatever reason. Some people do wonder if police pursuits should be stopped entirely. I don't know if they should be stopped, because I would like to believe that the police have a good reason to be chasing someone down the street. So, I am inclined to believe that police pursuits are necessary and that the police only use them when they are absoultely neccesssary). Here is one person's thoughts of police pursuits:  Read More »

Mark Schultz

Mark Schultz is a great singer. He wrote this song about his birth mother. It is so beautiful. As a birth mother, I would love to hear such a song written for me.

I must have felt your tears
When they took me from your arms
I’m sure I must have heard you say goodbye
Lonely and afraid had you made a big mistake
Could an ocean even hold the tears you cried

But you had dreams for me
You wanted the best for me
And you made the only choice you could that night

(Chorus)
You gave life to me
A brand new world to see
Like playing baseball in the yard with dad at night
Mom reading Goodnight Moon
And praying in my room
So if you worry if your choice was right
You gave me up but you gave everything to me

And if I saw you on the street
Would you know that it was me
And would your eyes be blue or green like mine
Would we share a warm embrace
Would you know me in your heart
Or would you smile and let me walk on by
Knowing you had dreams for me
You wanted the best for me
And I hope that you’d be proud of who I am

(Chorus)
You gave life to me
A chance to find my dreams
And a chance to fall in love
You should have seen her shining face
On our wedding day
Oh is this the dream you had in mind
When you gave me up
You gave everything to me

And when I see you there
Watching from heaven’s gates
Into your arms
I’m gonna run
And when you look in my eyes
You can see my whole life
See who I was
And who I’ve become  Read More »

"Dirt Bags" For Sale

And I am not talking about a mean or rude for sale. Someone is selling actual dirt. I saw on KDFW Fox 4 news out of Dallas that people are selling actual dirt on EBAY. It is dirt from the new Dallas Cowboys stadium that is under construction in Arlington, Texas. It says it comes with a letter of authentication from the man who dug it up. I am not a sports fan, so I am wondering sports fans, is this something that you would actually buy? Is that something that you would actually want? I am just curious because it does not seem like something I would want even if I was a sports fan. For those who are curious about it here is the link to it:  Read More »

B.A.T.P.

B.A.T.P. or Bay Area Turning Point is an agency for victims of domestic violence in Texas. When I was a domestic violence in my life, they helped me so much. They provided me with a roof over my head, three meals a day, counseling, educational classes, and job assistance. I entered their shelter and S greeted with a hug and a hot meal. I will never ever forget her or them. Not only did they help me physically, they helped me grow emotionally and helped deal witb the scars of my past that come with being a victim of domestic violence. My ex also had taken off with my 11 year old daughter (who was five at the time) and they helped me get in touch with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children who found a newspaper journalist to write an article about me and my daughter and parental kidnapping. They even gave me stuff for my daughter and I for Christmas. When I went to get my daughter, instead of getting on the bus back to the shelter, I stupidly fell for his crocodile tears and stayed with him giving him a second chance. Bay Area Turning Point did give me the beginning and the strength I needed when I finally left him for the last time. Thank you Bay Area Turning Point. I will never forget you and what you did for me. Being that the holiday season is the time of year when domestic violence is at a higher rate, I  thought I would share some information that Bay Area Turning Point has on their website about domestic violence.  Read More »
