I'm sure that everyday you watch television, you cannot go without seeing at least one form of killing. blood, fight, or cussing. It never used to be this way. People could get humor through just stupid stuff, like smacking someone in the face with a cream pie. But now it just seems like all I see is bullying, guns, and crimes. I personally don't like the degrading terms that are used on television or in anything for that matter, but it's supposedly what the people want. Read More »

The Truth About Voting
As you all know, every four years there is an election. The main candidates come from the Republican and Democratic Parties, but a few are on the sidelines. They can often play a role as to who wins the election, because they take certain votes away. Not necessarily, but that is the proposed idea by many people.
So you go into the voting booth and when people ask who you voted for you would say, oh I voted for Bush or I voted for Kerry. But you didn't really vote for them. You see, on some states ballots there are 4 people named above or in the same box as the presidential candidate. They are the electors that make up the electoral college. They are the ones you are really voting for. Read More »

New Found Hope For Seeds That Aren't Number One
Duke could almost see the trophy in their hands at the start of the NCAA tournament. They had a strong season (despite a few losses) and had two of the best seniors in the game, Shelden Williams and JJ Redick. They were unstoppable, until they met up with LSU.
Last night, the game came down to the last minute, before Duke had to start fouling intentionally in hopes of regaining possession and shooting more baskets. The whole problem was rebounding. With 4 Duke players and one LSU player on the side of the court where the free throws were shot, the LSU player was able to get his own rebound and try again. Read More »

Euthanasia and Physician Assisted Suicide
Last semester I was sitting in my desk during 3rd hour English, when my teacher was getting us ready for an essay coming up. She decided that the best way to get our attention was to talk about euthanasia and helping people kill themselves.
There has been video evidence of a doctor helping some man die by giving him a shot. Personally, I don't feel that this is right. Why would someone want to throw away their life? There is nothing too big and nothing that you won't be able to happen. Yes, you may be down but that doesn't mean that you have to kill yourself. Read More »

My "very opinionated" view on politics
First off I would just like to start by saying that if you take things easily offensive, then you might not want to continue. I'm not meaning to offend anyone or put down anyone's ideas, so don't think that that is my purpose for posting this blog. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, here's what I think:
Let's start with the war in Iraq. Has it become too long? I agree that it has, and yes I'm a Republican. But we have to let Bush do what he thinks is right. It's not like he is trying to put our country into danger on purpose or anything, he has a true reason for being over there and I think we as citizens need to respect and trust in him. If you have a problem, then stop complaining, run for president or move to a different country! I'm sick of hearing your complaining when there is nothing you can do about it until next election. Half of us probably won't end up voting anyway and yet they say that they have right to complain. I don't get it, you don't use your voice until after someone has been elected? I personally have family and friends who have come back saying that no one here knows the real story and we would have to experience life over there to understand why it is necessary. I take their word for it since they are fighting for me. I think that we should all support and listen to these soldiers since they are risking their lives in what they feel is a good cause. Working hard but not getting Paid Enough
You wake up in the morning, go to school, then come home and get ready to go to work. It's a constant cycle of being busy and trying to keep up with it all at the same time. You may have a job because your parents needed you to get one, you wanted the extra money so you could shop, or it may be for college. I'm sure a lot of you are getting paid minimum wage, but should you be getting a raise or is the pay fair? Read More »

Avoid Dehydration... drink water!
Spring is here and the USA is about to get hot, especially in the south. But even up in the colder weather, we all need to make sure that we are staying hydrated to avoid dehydration and fainting.
I remember that a bunch of people died in Europe from a sudden heat wave because they were not ready for the heat. You never know what the weather is going to do, so it's smart to keep some water handy and continually drink it throughout the day. Read More »

Sports in high school.... good or bad?
More and more athletic sports are coming into high schools around the country. This gives more students the opportunity to participate in a sport while attending high school. Some principals are against having sports in schools because it distracts from the students learning process, but I have to disagree. And here is why:
I have participated in sports at school ever since 3rd grade and I'm still at the top of my class, going to a good college, and an honors student every semester. Read More »
