Maybe BCS isnt so bad

I was just sitting here staring with my hardened cynic's eye at an economic impact study that says the BCS national championship game will be worth $315 million in business, which got me to wondering, when did Ohio State become a content provider as opposed to a, you know, football team? And that in turn got me to thinking about licensing options, community portals, single-source partners, operating leverage and variable cost, all of which seem more important to BCS officials than playing a, what's the word they never use anymore, game.  Read More »

Missouri looking good so far

Hey all...I know we have a big game tomorrow, but I wanted to throw a few things out there about Missouri. For the first time this season, I watched them play for an extended period of time last night against Arkansas.

The Tigers ultimately won 86-64. And while I do not think Arkansas is as hot as its 5-0 record entering the game, Missouri looked damn good in posting the 22-point triumph. To be sure, if Quin was still the coach, Missouri either would have lost or barely won.  Read More »

SIU mascot suspended

"At the SIU vs University of Tennessee-Martin football playoff game at McAndrew Stadium on Saturday November 25, 2006 I apparently offended the UTM fans. In the second quarater after SIU just scored it's first TD to Make the score 14-7, in celebration I (as Grey Dawg) ran over to the UTM cheerleaders and tried to pick one of them up. She tried to fend me off and eventually I turned away, as I did, i partially pulled down my shorts and wiggled my butt at the fans as they were making fun of the Saluki Mascot. In doing so I apprently offended the UTM fans, and they called/emailed the SIU athletic department and I'm now being suspended for 2 games, when originally I was told I'd be out for one game.  Read More »

Non-conf road schedule for SIU not so bad

even though we 'had to play' at La Tech last night, that game was about as big of a joke as you could get.

a lot of you guys complain about not getting respect the gonzaga's of college ball get (on a indivdual level) yet we have never done what they did for a good 5 years.  Read More »

RPI is worthless right now

I have seen lots of comments about fluctuations in our RPI game to game. Relax everyone, RPI is meaningless until at least mid-January then gets more accurate the more games are played. Right now Texas Arlington is somehow number 12 iwth 2-2 record. You can debate the AP of ESPN polls but comparing computer rankings is pointless. There is not a sufficient amount of data. It's like doing a survey of 4 people and saying 75% of all people like cheese.  Read More »

Genesis making comeback

Members of the rock group Genesis are reuniting for their first tour in 15 years.

Phil Collins, 55, Mike Rutherford, 56, and Tony Banks, 56, said they planned to kick off a 20-date stadium tour of Europe next June.

The "Turn it on Again" tour -- named for one of their hits -- begins in Helsinki, Finland, on June 11 and ends with a free concert in front of the Colosseum in Rome on July 14.  Read More »

50 Cents calls out Oprah

50 Cent lashes out at Oprah
December 1, 2006

50 Cent has accused Oprah Winfrey of pandering to white women. The rapper believes the chat show host has allowed wealth, fame and power to change her as a person and has accused her of turning her back on her roots.

He said in an interview with Elle magazine: "She started out with black women's views but has been catering to middle-aged white American women for so long that she's become one herself. I think the idea of being publicly noted as a billionaire makes black women interested in seeing her views. But it's even more exciting to the demographic of white American women she's  Read More »
