The anti chief crowd is not done at the moment
The progressive action committee against racism in sports and the media has already said that they intend to continue to protest the removal of the term "Illini" and "Fighting Illini" from the Univeristy. They consider the removal of the Chief has only a "half" victory. This was in a tribune or suntimes story on Friday I believe. Read More »

Could national attention hurt my school?
Trust me when I say this, I like the national attention just as much as the next Saluki fan that has come our way in the past few weeks. As you all know, our projected NCAA seed is anywhere from two to four. We will be featured in next week's addition of Sports Illustrated and we are the talk of the national sports media. Read More »
Just another injury to add Illinois mens bball team
I was listening to the WDWS radio show this morning and they had Coach Weber on talking about the Arizona basketball game.
Near the end of the show Coach Weber mentioned that Shaun Pruitt complained of swelling in his hand after the Arizona game was over.
Apparently one of the Arizona players had swung his hand down to block a shot by Shaun and had hit Shaun's hand in the process of trying to block the shot. Read More »
Illinois week after two tough games
First off, I am impressed with how all of your so called role players have stepped up and met the challenge of having to play really meaningful minutes. They've played hard, and for the most part, smart against MD and AZ.
Anyway, here are a couple impressions I have after seeing the two games (most are obvious):
1) Warren Carter needs to be in the lineup even with Randle and Smith back. He does a good job of moving without the ball, can hit the jumper, and most impressively to me, has rebounded well and has not looked afraid to mix it up inside. Kid deserves to play. Read More »
Palming the basketball
I know the point of emphasis rule is designed to improve fundamentals and with this being called more it will improve the game etc etc..... however, i personally feel it is getting out of control and it probably could and should be called even more because of the new point of emphasis..
In less your abusing it and or named Iverson.. I feel it should be called only if you gain an advantage while going to he hole or going around someone...(which i believe that was the old /new rule last year) however players dribbling outside the 3 point line with no one guarding them and they get called for plaming Read More »
Thouhgts of great Vince Young
I thought coming out of college his mechanics would do him in. He threw it awkwardly and I honestly thought he'd enter the league with a 'run-first' mentality similarly to Michael Vick.
Twelve games later and I'm in awe. Whereas Young was scrambling earlier in the season, he definitely has shaken that mind-set. Yesterday against the Colts he completed 15 passes....to ten different receivers. He's distributing the ball like a professional all while being able to balance his scrambling power as an auxiliary weapon. Read More »
