I realized the other day that there was a featured blogger on my page, and then I started to think about the people who also have their blogs posted on the front page. I thought about the criteria that each post and the featured blogger was judged by in order to be selected. I realized then that I had no idea what it was. 

The blogs on the front page are chosen according to the editor's liking, which could be taken for granted in itself, and then there is the featured blogger, which had no criteria listed.

Uh oh, more news about what's in our tap water and what could happen if we drink it!

 In a recent study, it was found that people in the U.S., Canada, and Finland, who consume 2 liters of tap water a day (wow) are 50 percent more likely to contract bladder cancer! This is compared to people who consume only .5 liters a day.

A report released on May 7th publicized a study conducted by a Harvard researcher who found that those who make virginity pledges either default on them a year later or lie about their sexual experiences and/or virginity (or non-virginity) or claim: Virginity pledge? What virginity pledge?! Thus the 2.5 million adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18 who reportedly signed the pledges are actually not reliable sources. The club is an ambiguous concept. Some people like going to the club to dance. Others go to the club to drink. There are others who just go to the club to get "happy." Some people go to rock music clubs, and others go to hip hop clubs. Each has their own atmosphere that appeals to whoever wants to step inside and give it a shot. What I really want to know is two things. For the ladies, what makes you want to dance with a guy? (Dress, looks, moves, lack of moves, inches, or personality?) For the guys, what makes you want to go up to a girl? (Dress, looks, moves, how drunk she is, personality, or whatever) If a girl or guy is too open (like those girls who move as though their butt is detached from their head and guys that just stand there like a pole, his hands a-roaming), does that detract or add to their appeal? Is it all about sex when you go to the club nowadays? 

Now, it seems to me that the clubs in my city are very shallow.

My mom grew up in the 60s in a very strict Catholic household, so she is pretty close-minded when it comes to progressive ideas and freedoms of our culture. She's one of those feminist moms who thinks that everything is about the oppression of women, from the way The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy portrays females to the way that they are "objectified" in shows like America's Next Top Model.

       Back in late 2004/early 2005, President Bush started up his new soapbox, SAME SEX MARRIAGES ARE WRONG! He tried to get all sorts of legislation passed that took rights away from the GLBT community. He encouraged civil unions only between a MAN and a WOMAN. He created the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community initiatives (because that doesn't go against the Constitution as far as separation of Church and State). While all this was going on, it was right in the middle of the War in Iraq, and he was wasting all this energy on getting the rights taken away from the gays as he spent 200 million dollars on the war effort. 

Recent debates over the new immigration laws have created quite a stir in every single community. You are either for restrictions or not, and from experience, I've learned that those who are for it, are not well-informed. They think that it will be okay to build a Great Wall of America on the Mexico border (they completely ignore Canada, go figure.) They think that immigrants don't pay taxes yet gain all the benefits of doing so. They also think that immigrants (especially Mexicans) steal jobs away from Americans. 

Today, the Lousiana Senate approved strict bans on abortion, even for women who were victimized by rape and incest. The bill eliminates the right to abort unless it will save the mother's life.
