Contraception, while widely abused, has it's place in society. If not for the prevention of a dreaded child, then sadly enough then for at least population control. That may sound mean and cold, but sex is something people are going to do might as well try to prevent having an abundance of little ones running around. We need to conserve life is the argument that many present, but so they not see that there a limited amount of resources, and wasting them on accidents isn't a beneficial way to go. Not allowing individuals to reach their full potential, which is easier and more likely when you have only yourself to worry about, is detrimental to life. These couples whom wouldn't be allowed to reach their full potential, may be the ones that were set on the destiny or path to discover new technology on food growth, space travel and housing, disease prevention, or one of the many other task we take to prevent the loss of life. Why not use technology we have? And since we have it, since when is it a good idea to take personal freedoms away from the masses for mere moral?

FDA: Scary Thoughts

Tagged:  •

The question for today is 'Is the FDA outdated, and unable to keep up with todays bustling society that invents a drug for every ailment?'

Recently questions have been raised about the effectiveness that the FDA has over filtering out harmful drugs. When many drugs such as Vioxx and Celebrex are being pulled off the shelves due to harmful side-affects such as increased suicide risk in those taking the drug, it makes you want to know how the drug is processed. At the end of April many called for restructuring of the FDA, calling their tastics careless and unthourough. Many claimed that they spent too much time on PR rather than on hard-core facts. The GAO is a big push for this reform. They are calling for post-market tests and stricter regulations. This calls for giving the FDA more power and resources to do their job, whether efficiciency will come of this is unknown since they just recently went through a major reform.
