In many countries around the world especially in African countries there are groups of people who practice female circumcision. This is often a very brutal practice in which parts of the vigina are cut away, it could be the clitorous, the labia, all of it and in some areas they actually sew the vigina closed. Their are several reasons they do this, for one its custom and seen as a stage to go through to become a woman. But the main reason is to control the female's sexuality. They are sewed up until they married thus ensuring the fact that the female is a virgin. This can cause serious problems for the females such as long lasting physical pain, loss of sensation in sex and physical discomfort during sex. Many feel that the U.S should step in and make these groups stop this practice, while others say we should mind our own business, they say it would be ethnocentric for us to impose our ideologies and practices on them, how do you feel about it? And what about male circumcision? Theres no scientific reason for it, as long as the foreskin is kept clean theres no problems at all and its thought that men who are circumcisized are losing sensation because of the removal of the foreskin. So why are we doing it to our sons? Read More »

Female Circumcision? Should the U.S step in?
Designer Babies? Should this be allowed?
I just read in the news that thousands of people are coming to America to be able to dictate the sex of their baby! I guess we've had the technology to do this for quite some time and people are starting to do this quite often. I'm not sure how I feel about this, on one hand I guess it would be nice to be able to obtain the sex you want if you already had one of the other. And by doing this you could have a head start on buying clothes and setting up their room, and picking out a name. But on the other hand it just seems wrong to me, nothing about it is natural, their's no mystery involved, anticipation and excitement is part of it for me, this would be gone or at least greatly reduced. Plus the child isn't concieved naturally they take the egg and the sperm screw with it and then put it inside the woman, plus theres the drugs you have to take, and I read a statistic that like 85% of all multiple births were not concieved naturally! So in effect you could be getting a lot more then asked for! Read More »
Spank'em if you got um!
I was sondering how you all feel about spanking children? Should we? Shouldn't we? What do you all think works best? Time Out?, 1,2,3 Magic?, grounding?, Spanking? Taking away toys? etc. I have a 2 yr. old and what you hear is true, there is the terrible 2's. My little one especially likes to act up when there's a audience, like at Walmart or the grocery store. For some reason though its really only with his mother, he hardly ever does this when he's only with me. I really would like to know why he behaves himself with me but not her. We spank because nothing and I mean nothing else gets through to him, sure the other things work the first couple times you use them but they don't for long. If we put him in time out he just sets there and screams, same if you put him in his room, and he can cry and scream for over an hour without pause! He will literally cry till he throws up! Taking away toys doesn't even phase him, when we do that he just hangs on us until he gets them back. Also there's another problem with these other methods: How do you use them when your out in public? You can't exactly put a kid in time out in the middle of a store, When their older you could ground them, i guess, but a 2 yr. old won't remember what they did, they'll think your just being mean. So what are parents supposed to do? Read More »
The biggest rip off all college students will face! All future college students should read this!
Every semester thousands of college students go to their college bookstore to get their books and they find that their outrageously expensive! This last semester I bought books for 5 classes and spent almost $600 dollars and I've heard others say they've spent more! The sad this is some of these books were used when I bought them! But thats just the half of it, the real rip off comes at the end of the semester when you go to sell them back. I took those same books back to the same store that was covered with advertisements saying, "we'll give you more for your books" and "we care about our students". I really took good care of those books they were just like they were when I got them and they only wanted to give me $100 for all of them! Knowing that they would turn around next semester and sell them and make huge profits! But they didn't get my books, I told them I'd rather set them on fire and piss on the ashes before I'd take that raping. lol Read More »
If you were president, what would you do?
So like the title asks; If you were President of the United States and could take on whatever issue that you chose too what would it be? It can be anything, don't get into the "well if I could get approval" mode. Just plain and simple if you had control of this country what would you change? Would you stop the war? Or would you carpet bomb the entire country? Would you stop abortion? Allow Gay Marriage? Stop all immigration put a tight reign on our borders? Would you put all your resources into alternative fuels? Stop the War on Drugs? Legalize recreational drugs? What? Or would you just play dumb and take nice long vacations like Bush? Read More »
The Constant Gardener: Is it possible?
I recently got to watch "The Constant Gardener" the film about a drug company that was going to any lengths to get drugs tested and on the market as fast as possible. Even if that meant praying on innocent victims. My question to you is this; Do you think that these kinds of things are taking place? To what lengths do you think drug companies will go in order to make profits? We've all seen the call backs and alerts about drugs being taken off the market because further testing found to be harmful and causing deaths. Do you think they didn't know what the side effects were in advance? Do you think they did know and just wanted to reap the profits until they were pulled? Read More »
Is a bachelors degree the new high school diploma?
Things are really changing these days, professional jobs are requiring more and more education. When I first started college I remember thinking "oh yeah, I'll get this degree and then I'll be making the big money" boy was I wrong! Most of the jobs that I'll be able to do with only a bachelors are just a step up from factory work. Some are a little better paying but their still the kind of jobs that will drag you down and leave you burned out after 5yrs. So when I expanded my search for jobs that I feel would really make a great career I found that I at least had to have a Master's degree to be considered. I mean, I got a 4yr. degree isn't that enough? How do you all feel about this? Is getting a Master's part of your plan? Are their "good" jobs available in the field you wish to work in with just a bachelors? Read More »
So I'm graduating college, now what?
So I've spent the last 4yrs. of my life pursuing my bachelor's degree in Criminology, so now what am I supposed to do? Should I go into the workforce and get a job or should I go for my Master's. Its a tough decision, I have a family to support now and the cost of getting a Master's is crazy. We really could use the money that I could be making in the workforce but if I get my master's I could earn quite a bit more. But is it worth it? Is it worth it to barely make ends meet for the next couple of years and get myself into even more debt or just say screw it and get a job now? I'll tell ya the tough decisions just don't quit coming. Read More »
