Should lobbying be allowed?

Should big corporations and different groups be allowed to lobby our officials by throwing millions of dollars towards their campaigns? I say no because when we allow this we're not getting a politician with an agenda were getting a corporation with an agenda. Big money should not be allowed to make laws, this country would be a better place if it was illegal to lobby politicians. I know theres some lobbying going on thats legitimate and for good causes but why should money be a part of it? These groups should be able to meet with politicians and present their cause or concerns but money just leads to corruption. What do you all think?  Read More »

Why are alcohol and tobacco legal?

With so many recreational drugs out there that really do little harm to people why is alcohol and tobacco legal when they account for more deaths then all other drugs combined! Way more for that matter! There are more crimes committed while under the influence of alcohol then any other drug. There are more people addicted to alcohol and tobacco then other drugs. We have known the danger of these drugs because they've been around far longer then most drugs.  Read More »

Yet another reason to NEVER drink alone!

Joel Fish of Queensbury, NY was found asleep, undressed and bleeding in a coffin! He was heavily intoxicated apparently wanted a nice place to lay down so he broke into a funeral home. He was cut up from the broken window but proceeded to strip down and take a nap! He was found that way by the owners early that morning. What makes people commit such stupid crimes when their intoxicated? He wasn't trying to steal anything, they don't think his motive was to vandalize the place. So why do it?  Read More »

Is there even a chance of catching up in this contest?

I was just wondering how people on here felt about this competition? Its been open for several months now  so a lot of people are way, way ahead of the rest of us, I love blogging so I'll continue regardless of the competition but I think theres a lot of false hope out there if new or recent bloggers think they've got a chance. I read a thing about last years winner and if I'm not mistaken it said he only had like forty some blogs, well I have nearly that now and I've been doing for less then a month, some people have 3 times the number of blogs I do at the moment. It looks like if they were going to let people sign up for this thing months after it started they would have to make some kind of allowance so that new bloggers had a fighting chance, what do you all think?  Read More »

What happened to the love of the game?

I use to love watching sports as a kid, but then the baseball strike happened and for me the spirit and of sports was gone. It was cheapened by multimillion dollar contracts, larger then life stars, steroid abuse, and advertising. What a mockery sports entertainment has become! These people are playing a game, why are they making millions? Players are now often afraid to play hard because they need to secure that big contract! And now sports memorbillia can be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars? I heard the record breaking ball Bonds hit the other day could go for around a half million! This stuff just blows me away. But recently I watched a sporting event that really made my day Little League Baseball! This is where its at, no major advertising, no big contracts just players who love the game. Players who play their hearts out for the sake of the game and thats it. Sure they may not be the best, they often screw up but that makes it even more entertaining for me, especially when the little kids swings so hard his helmet turns backwards and he runs in the wrong direction!! That happened recently and I almost fell out of the bleachers! What do you all think about the sports industry these days?  Read More »

Mexico trying to bar Non-Natives from working!

You know I have a lot of simpathy for people wanting to start a new and better life here in America. And lets face it if it wasn't for many of these immigrants a lot of jobs in the U.S wouldn't be getting done. But how can the Mexican Government bad mouth us and accuse us of xenophobia when they have stricter policies in place on immigrants then we do?  In Mexico non-natives are banned from thousands of jobs, they can't hold any offices, police or fireman jobs. And Mexico grants citizenship to only about 3000 people whereas the U.S grants nearly a half million per year!  I'm not blaming the people but their government needs to take a look in the mirror before they start accusing us of things.  Read More »

The Da Vinci Code breaks box office records in Italy!

This film earned $2.6 million in its opening night nealy double what the previous record. And this despite the Vaticans warnings. I really didn't expect the film to have that kind of success there. I guess it goes to show that people enjoy doing what their advised not too. It grossed $224 million world wide in its first 3 days. They now expect this film to gross close to the amount that "The Passion of Christ" did a few years ago.  Read More »

College students fear crazed Bambi?

I just read a report about seven people at Southern Illinois University  being attacked by an aggressive Doe. Experts believe the Doe is reacting this way to protect her young which were nearby. Flyers across the university read, "If the deer darts towards you, run"  Well duh, I think that much would be obvious to college students, if not then they probably shouldn't be there anyway. So what do you think should be done about this? The article I read didn't mention any plan, should they put up fences, kill the deer, or just put up more signs?   I'm interested in seeing what procautions will be taken to keep the students safe? This brings up another good question: What is the responsibility of officials to protect citizens from nature? Should animals be killed off to protect people, should they be rounded up and moved out of their environment? What?  Read More »
