A lot of people say that handing out condoms in high school would promote promiscuity. People who usually wouldn't consider having sex would get the idea that its okay because the school is "helping them". But anyone who has been in high school know that sex is always on the teenage mind. And the majority of these teens are having sex. And anyone who has morals that tell them to remain virgins won't change their minds just because they see condoms being given to other students. I think this is a good idea because I am personally tired of seeing pregnant girls in the halls of our schools. And I know that the problem isn't in the education because most girls these girls aren't ignorant. They just had a moment of stupidity. Maybe if condoms weren't so hard for teenagers to get access to there would be a lot less STDs going around and a lot less pregnant girls. Read More »

Handing Out Condoms in High Schools
Will Men Virgins Ever Become Cool?
We all know that there is a double standard. You can see it everywhere in society. Some people are trying to correct it, like how women are, slowly (very slowly) starting to be called promiscuous instead of sluts. Is it really right to try to correct the standard by not persecuting women who are becoming more promiscuous or should it be corrected by trying to have men value their virginity more. After all, girls are taught to value their virginity "hold on tight to your innocence because once its gone you can never get it back". But why aren't more boys taught this. They are encouraged by all of society to get rid of their virginity as soon as possible. Why? More women are expected to stay virgins until their wedding day but men, "they just can't control themselves". I don't think that's true. I know guys who are choosing to wait until marriage. But for these guys, its an uphill battle. Not because they can't control themselves, but because it's uncool. They get made fun of for their choice. In societies' eyes it's not something that they should try to do. Read More »
The Real World Isn't Real Anymore- Should MTV Cancel It?
The real world hasn't been real for years now. Each season that follows because more and more involved in hook-ups and petty arguments. Now, I admit that I watched every episode of the last season. It's pretty good drama. But I also realize that its not real anymore. People come on the show with an idea already in their head that they're going to be the b**ch of the show or the crybaby or the slut or the player or whatever else they come up with. It's no longer an experiment to see what happens when 7 strangers live with each other for a number of months. Its now prescribed drama. Like grouping a devote Christian with lesbians and gays. Or placing the guy who has never seen a black person in his life into a house with blacks (who of course have to be the "quintessentinal" blacks from a ghetto neighborhood). Its all fake. If the show is going to keep going it should be realized for what it is. Fake. It's entertaining to watch, but fake. Besides, what real person would apply to be on the show in the first place? Driving While Tired is Just as Bad Driving Drunk
There have been countless studies comparing exhausted drivers to drunk drivers and the results- people who drive while sleepy make much of the same mistakes drunk drivers do. There have been many accidents when someone who was sleepy has killed others. The thing is that they don't get as much time in prison as drunk drivers. Why? Because at some point everyone has driven while tired. (For some its a daily thing) The jurors are sympathetic and think that the person shouldn't have to be punished as much. Well I highly disagree. Being tired shouldn't be an excuse for killing someone. These people don't deserve that much sympathy. If you know you are exhausted and you don't do anything about it, its your fault. You shouldv'e gotten a cup of coffee or maybe gotten up earlier so you wouldn't be sleeping and driving. These people deserve just as much punishment as anyone else who kills someone while driving. Saying it was an accident shouldn't be an excuse. Read More »
Is Halloween Evil or Just Fun?
When I first moved the first friends I made were very religious. I'm not but it didn't matter because they weren't trying to force their views on me. When Halloween time came around I was excited to go trick-or-treating but they weren't allowed. Their parents believed that Halloween was evil. One of them asked me to attend a function with her at her church but I declined. I went trick-or-treating with new friends and had a great time and got a lot of candy. Still I wished that they're parents had allowed them to go trick-or-treating too. I didn't understand what the problem with Halloween was. Going to people's houses for candy doesn't seem to be part of a satanic ritual. Maybe in the past Halloween was evil but I don't see how it's in any way evil today. Read More »
Whites Becoming the Minority in 50 years- Good or Bad?
I'm a black female and I think that diversity is good. After all, this country was founded by many different cultures and countries. Even with all the different races and cultures in the U.S. whites have continued to be the majority. Well, I heard a news report that said that in about 50 years whites will be part of the minority. And who will be the majority? No, not blacks. Latinos. (I guess spanish will have to become our second national language). This made me think- is this much diversity a good thing? Well, I see no reason why it should be a bad thing. Is it really going to hurt anyone? I think not. Why should this country be identified by the white population, or by any race. Like I said before, I think diversity is good. Our country should be known as a diverse country, open to every culture there is. On another thought, whether you think whites becoming part of the minority good or bad, in about fifty years we will really see what "equality for all men" means in this country. Will whites become the oppressed and latinos become the oppressors? Doesn't that just seem backwards. Read More »
Freak Dancing & Grinding- More Like Sex on Dance Floors
My last homecoming was just a few weeks ago. Now every other year that I've been at my school there have been chaperons to break up people dancing too close and inappropriately at my school (which is usually a lot) But this year, it seems like the chaperons have given up. They stood around watching what was happening but not actually doing anything, which was pretty pointless, I mean what are they there for if they're not going to do anything. Anyways the point is that dancing has continually gotten worse over the years. It started with girls just shaking their hips and Elvis making pelvic thrusts and has moved to full on sex on the dance floors (at least they've kept on their clothes, so far). It is really disturbing to see girls bending over for guys and afterwards saying that it was nothing, "just dancing". Come on now, its not just dancing. You really are simulating anal sex. Then you say "that's gross" and "I would never do anything like that" but you are. Maybe I'm a prude, but I think that dancing is just getting worse and worse, and now less and less adults are making a big deal about it. Dancing like that should be saved for the bedroom, not a school dance. And it should be made into a big deal. Most of them wouldn't do it in front of their parents, but for some reason they think it's okay to do it in front of other students. Well, I'm tired of seeing it. Read More »
Porn Destroying the U.S.?
I was recently watching a news show on t.v. There was a week long segment on how porn bad for the country. Now I understand people not liking porn. Maybe you feel that sex should be private, maybe it just doesn't get you off. But for whatever reason some don't like it, I don't think it's because it is destroying the country. I mean, how does it really destroy the country? Not all people who watch porn are disgusting, perverted, over-all evil people. Is anyone really dying because of porn? Does it really show that our country has no values? Compared to other countries I don't really think that we are any less virtuous. Why do people make such a big deal about porn? Is it really hurting anyone? Does porn really destroy families or do people just use it as an excuse? Does it really make men become bigotted womanizers or are some of them already that way before they watch porn? Read More »
